Elalou Thompson-Bensch

To: Elalou

From: Mom

1,010,400 minutes. 4 years and a couple of months. That’s how long you were on this earth. At first, I was so angry that this was all I would ever get with you. How could you be taken away so early when we had barely gotten to the best part of your story? I had so many fun things planned for us, from starting barn hunt in the fall to taking you to see your first real beach next summer. I feel like I’ve been robbed of everything that could and should have been. You were so dear to my heart, my first dog that made me work for your love. And I loved it. It was challenging, but with challenges come great rewards. Some days all I’ll want is to sit on the floor of our living room and run my fingers through your fur when I’ve had a bad day, but I’ve come to accept that if you were only meant to live 4 years with whoever picked up up that day, then I’m grateful I got to be your mom. 4 years, 1,010,400 minutes is how long I got to have such a blessing as you in my life. To love you, to be part of your story. And how lucky I am to have had someone as wonderful as you for however long the universe let you stay by my side. You were a gift, a treasure, and to see you any other way would dishonor your time here earth side. Until we met again, wait for me on the bridge Lou, we all love you & miss you so much. Your forever our goodboy.

Elalou, you were a great dog with a lot of personality. You were funny, loving, and always there for our family. I can never be more grateful to have a dog like you in my life. We wish you were with us longer so that we could have made more memories especially when we all were going to go camping together this fall. Just know whenever we’re going for our walks, making food in our kitchen, or working outside. We will be thinking about you, since you were there watching us. Now just keep watch one last time on the rainbow bridge. Because that’s were we will meet again, our forever goodboy.
